Dr. Erika Pluhar sees couples and individuals with the following concerns:

• Feeling disconnected or distant in important relationships
• Difficulty negotiating typical conflict areas in relationships, such as balancing roles and communicating needs, parenting, finances, extended family, and physical intimacy
• Life changes that affect emotional and physical intimacy such as childbirth, a new relationship, menopause, and chronic illness
• Specific sexual concerns such as low or absent sexual desire, pelvic/sexual pain, difficulty experiencing orgasm, erectile dysfunction, and rapid ejaculation
• History of sexual abuse or trauma

Often individual and relationship problems manifest as sexual "symptoms." When a sexual concern brings you into therapy, it is an opportunity to learn more about yourself and/or your relationships. Dr. Pluhar will help you "dig deeper" to build a better understanding of the barriers that prevent you from experiencing the type of intimacy - emotional and physical - that you desire in your relationships, and to learn skills to connect more deeply with the people who are important to you.

Dr. Pluhar provides a free telephone consultation for new clients. During this conversation, you will be asked to describe your concerns and goals for therapy. If you wish to proceed, she will help you set up an initial appointment.

With new clients, Dr. Pluhar conducts a comprehensive assessment including:

• an overview of your concerns
• a detailed personal and family history
• relevant medical issues
• your goals for therapy

After the assessment, Dr. Pluhar will provide you with feedback and together you will decide on the best course of treatment.

Sessions are 50 minutes long. Payment is due at the time of service. Dr. Pluhar does not participate directly with any insurance companies. However, you will be provided with a receipt that you can submit for insurance reimbursement.
